THE MONTREAL MUSEUMS DAY 2018

THE MONTREAL MUSEUMS DAY 2018-
By Bernard Bujold-
Some 30 museums in Montreal received visitors for free on Sunday, May 27, 2018.
However, major museums such as the Museum of Fine Arts or Pointe-à-Callière did not include in the visit their temporary exhibition which meant that neither Picasso nor the Queens of Egypt were accessible to the public for free...
A disappointment that according to the guides is attributable to the lack of subsidies from governments...
Personally I loved the McCord Museum's "SHALOM MONTRÉAL" exhibit about Montreal's Jewish community.
I also made an interesting discovery by visiting the McGill University Museum (Redpath Museum). In fact, the founder of the University, James McGill, was physically like Donald Trump...
If I have a second disappointment, it is that of the "cat" at the exhibition on Egypt. Indeed, in the catalog, the black cat cover a full page while in reality, it is a tiny cat barely two inches. It is so tiny that I had to go back to see it because I did not notice it during my first visit!

GÉRARD DEPARDIEU IS VISITING QUEBEC

GÉRARD DEPARDIEU IS VISITING QUEBEC
By Bernard Bujold-
The friendly and colorful character that is Gerard Depardieu is in town for his show DEPARDIEU CHANTE BARBARA presented in Quebec City tonight on May 22 and in Montreal Wednesday and Thursday May 23 and 24.
Gerard gave a few interviews, including one at the Soleil and another at the Journal de Montreal and also at Radio Canada.
In summary, Gerard hates the Cannes Film Festival and the cinema that is currently being done is not interesting. He does not admire the Quebec star Xavier Dolan...
He likes the voice and talent of Celine Dion, which he compares to Russian singers. He is also very fond of Robert Charlevoix's lyrics but is no longer friends with Luc Plamondon, whom he artistically attended in the 1980s.
Politically, Gerard voted in the recent presidential election of Russia and we imagine that it was for his friend Vladimir...
But he is not interested in politics or all the noise around the political movements of the genre ME TOO that he considers as representing anecdotes that have existed since the world is world.
He likes best to spend his time observing real life and real people.

ROYAL WEDDING HARRY AND MEGHAN - MAY 2018

HARRY AND MEGHAN ROYAL WEDDING - MAY 2018
By Bernard Bujold-
There are two types of events I never attend in my life! Weddings and burials...
However, I watched on TV (Fox News) some pictures of the wedding of the day, that of Harry and Meghan.
My favorite moment was when the black priest, the American bishop Michael Curry presented his sermon...
Long live the bride and groom, wishing it lasts!

ELECTIONS QUÉBEC 2018 AND THE ART OF POLITICS...

ELECTIONS QUÉBEC 2018 AND THE ART OF POLITICS...
By Bernard Bujold-
The element 101 in politics is knowing how to surround yourself with winning players to create good news and scapegoats to ward off bad news...
Philippe Couillard managed to win a champion by bringing Alexandre Taillefer as campaign chairman. Indeed, while the media are focused on criticizing Taillefer, no one criticizes Couillard. The only surprise is how Taillefer did not understand Couillard's game plan? In contrast, François Legault failed in what could have been a great championship if he convinced Lucien Bouchard to join his party as a transitional advisor in the event of an electoral victory. Lucien quickly understood the game of identification and he refused to become the door color of Legault, which would have been a master stroke...
Conclusion: I still expect a victory of Philippe Couillard October 1 if he continues to play his cards strategist, as it does so far!

TOM WOLFE (1931-2018)

TOM WOLFE (1931-2018)
By Bernard Bujold-
The best writer that I read in my life is dead today May 15, 2018! I will always remember him and his book: A MAN IN FULL which is also in a way the story of my life! THE BONFIRE OF THE VANITIES was also a very impressive book about human live and society!

LA PRESSE AND ITS FUTURE ACCORDING TO ANDRÉ DESMARAIS

THE PRESS AND ITS FUTURE ACCORDING TO ANDRÉ DESMARAIS...
By Bernard Bujold-
According to André Desmarais' confession in an interview in The Globe and Mail (May 11, 2018), La Presse had no way of becoming profitable because of the small number of potential readers in Quebec and this is the reason for the transfer of the company to a foundation. The question that arises: "If the population is not large enough to make a private project profitable, how can this same population finance with its donations the same company that has become a non-profit organization?
The conclusion is clear: La Presse is condemned to disappear permanently when Power Corporation will no longer be the money funder!

ELECTIONS QUEBEC 2018

ELECTIONS QUEBEC 2018 -
By Bernard Bujold-
It is good war for politics lovers to talk about the election result of October 1.
No! I will not be a candidate and I am not in favor of any particular political party, contrary to my beliefs at the American level...
On May 10, 2018, according to my political instinct, I expect a re-election of the current Prime Minister Philippe Couillard. It is too early to come up with a figure as to the precise number of MPs to be elected for each party, but there is no reason to consider a defeat by the current government.
Indeed, an election in Quebec, as elsewhere in North America, is never a vote "FOR A CANDIDATE" but rather a "VOTE AGAINST". We do not choose, we reject! The example of Valérie Plante in Montreal is the most recent while the majority of voters did not vote for Plante but against Denis Coderre. (Many regret their vote and look forward to 2021...)
For this reason of the reasoning in our electoral choice, I foresee that Philippe Couillard will be reelected.

FLOWERS ON ST JACQUES STREET

FLOWERS ON ST JACQUES STREET
By Bernard Bujold-
We know that spring is well established when flowers begin to appear on St Jacques Street in the financial district of Old Montreal and that the florist takes his tables outside and the colors invade his kiosk. Good spring 2018!
